The CZ Bren 2 Ms, the latest iteration of the CZ Bren, has arrived in the US in pistol form, offering various barrel lengths and two calibers. Unlike the 805 Bren, which was tailored to the Czech military’s specifications, the Bren 2 is a completely new design. It features significant changes, most notably a substantial weight reduction. The Bren 2 has been redesigned with a slimmed-down aluminum receiver and a lower made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, resulting in a durable yet much lighter firearm. The original reciprocating charging handle has been eliminated and replaced with a non-reciprocating version that remains in the forward position until required.
The Bren 2 Ms features a side-swappable forward assist and an AR-style bolt catch/release system accessible from both sides of the firearm, along with a trigger guard-integrated catch/release. Its magazine release and safety are ambidextrous, placed in positions familiar to those experienced with the AR platform. The pistol variant of the Bren 2 Ms includes a flush rear plate designed for attaching an AR-style buffer tube, allowing the addition of an arm brace, cheek rest, or other pistol stabilizing devices.
